so two summers ago my buddy asked me if i could hook up a working tail light on his new kz900 and me having multiple years experience plus a couple years trade school learning said HELL YEA BRO. doin my best to make a very very long and excruciating story as abbreviated as possible, lets just say that when i was doing what i thought was a good service to my homie by replacing a ground wire so brittle and burnt it crumbled in my hand, the entire side of the bike literally sprung into flames. burnt up most of the wiring near the battery/fuses and that classic and dangerous looking ignition system.
if there is anyone out there who has a copy of a service manual for this beast in digital form that you would be willing to share i would praise your name till two weeks after i died, loving you and thanking you as well.
ALSO.... if there is any chance i could get a couple pro/cons of a digitial system upgrade vs just an electronic upgrade, that would help as well as it seems to be where we are stuck right now......

Dyna S is the defacto standard electronic ignition upgrade. DS2-1 is the system for the KZ900/1000. Proven and priced fairly. It works will with 5 ohm coils so that's a plus too.

As above, just fit a Dyna 'S' .
Direct plug and play replacement for stock points.
Fit , set timing and forget.
Use 3 or 5ohm coils.
Better starting, running and more power.
Matching Dyna coils ups the HT output to 35k volts for maximum benefit.
