So I was snooping around parts of my bike that I've never had a real reason to go snooping around. Just tracing wires, trying to learn as much about it as possible. Looking for where some of the removed police equipment might have gone (like I'm curious about where the amplifier was originally installed... the diagrams are very vague on that subject).

I found this. I'd read about it in the owner's manual but thought my bike didn't have one because the functionality seems to be absent.

I apologise for the blurriness. It's underneath the battery holder, and the swing arm is blocking me from getting a good picture of it. To get one this clear I had to put the bike on the service stand and shove my phone in a tiny space between the frame, swing arm, and the battery box.

It's a Stanley DUS-100 turn signal self-cancelling unit.

Is anybody familiar with how these things are supposed to work? Like behavior wise? For instance, is it a timer that just shuts off the turn signal? If it's hooked up and not working, would the turn signals just stay on or not even come on?

On the other side of it appears to be the voltage regulator.

I am not sure about the copcycle version, but as I recall, the one on my 750 twin was connected to the turn signal circuit ant the speedometer. After a preset distance, the signals would shut off automatically. I wonder if the cop bikes have that in place so the turn signals can be used with the pursuit lights?

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI don't know how it works. Do you have a wiring diagram? I have one from an unknown 1000P police model that shows a turn signal operating switch w 2 of its wires going to a sensor at the speedometer. The sensor is listed as "●reed switch".

Partzilla lists a turn signal operating switch (27010-1048) & there are several on EB which look the same as yours.
The speedo socket assy (23008-1142) has two bulb sockets & a rectangular device which is probably the reed switch distance sensor.
From EB pics the speedometer (25005-1170) has a rectangular slot on the back >> the device probably fits into that slot.

I was wondering what the reed switch was on the wiring diagram. "reed switch" is just so vague.

Thanks, I'll trace that. I can't afford to buy a new DUS-100 until next month, but I'll try checking the connections.

Also, I got my pursuit light switch to work again. Turns out the harness rotted a bit. I went and replaced the fairing connectors (apparently they're AMP 9 pin connectors. I got the replacement from here:
www.elliottelectronicsupply.com/amp-conn...74-0-1-480277-0.html

Once I replaced the connector on both the fairing and main harness, the pursuit light wire started working again. But... the pursuit light indicator doesn't come on... I'm going to pull the panel apart and check the bulb on the pursuit indicator soonish.

I'd never heard of a reed switch & was thinking it was a bimetal switch of some sort.
But an internet search will answer the question. hee. I guess the magnets in the speedo actuate the thing.
