Is it OK to eliminate the hazard flasher regulator to get the front turn signal to flash with the rear when using the hazard lights?

Any help would be appreciated. I think the part number 21066-024.

The front and rear hazard lights normally flash together using the hazard flasher. If yours do not there is a problem, and I do not see how removing the flasher regulator would help at all. Without the hazard regulator what would make the lights flash when the hazard switch is activated? Ed

Welcome to KZR. It would help members here provide good advice if you identified the specific year and model of the bike being discussed. One way to keep from having to state that repeatedly is to put that information in the signature line. That way it will appear in every post you make.

650Ed is right. Do the front and rear signals alternate, or does one end not flash at all? Do the turn indicators and brake lights work as expected?

According to the fitment chart on Partzilla, that part number was used on the 1977 KZ900 A5 and the P-series police bikes. Is your bike one of those?

I thought I specified the bike . It is a 1995 KZ1000 P-14
According to the manual only the rear lights will flash when the hazzard switch is pushed. The page is attached.

Maybe I should say that I am asking about the regulator (diode) not the flasher relay.

That's different than my Kawasaki, but I stand corrected. I wonder why they set it up that way? Ed

Could have been for a couple of reasons. Police motor guys generally have the thought that the greater danger is from the rear when making a traffic stop, not from the front, so why have the front hazards on. Being that the OPs's bike is a '95 that was still in the timeframe of incandescent lamps and limited strobe use. Both sucked juice like crazy from a police motorcycle charging system so fewer flashing lamps saved electrical power for important things like starting the motorcycle after a contact. Nothing was worse than having to call for a jump start from some other officer. I made up a set of my own compact jumper cables for just those occasions. LED lights were basically unheard of in that era and those that were on the market were outrageously expensive and didn't work very well.

I never rode a Kawasaki Police Motorcycle officially, all we used at the time were Harleys, but they had the same problems back then. Weak charging systems and lights that used gobbs of power when you turned them on. CHP has the largest fleet of police motorcycles and they were using Kawasaki's, so everyone got what CHP wanted on the bikes. It kept things simple for the manufacturers plus West Coast departments tend to follow what CHP does. Remember too that at night if your front hazards flashers were on they did a great job of back-lighting the officer hence making him/her a better target. Quite often at night I would shut off my front emergency lights and hazards just to keep me from being silhouetted when walking up to a violator I had stopped. Today police bikes have the ability of even shutting off the headlamp if desired. Just gotta remember to turn it back on before you ride away or some citizen will help remind you!
