Starter motor removal
01 Jul 2019 15:20
Hey guys, the starter motor screws are eaten away and I can’t remove them. Does anyone have any ideas? I rewired (all new components and wire itself) the bike and the starter button wants to consume power but I’m not getting any response unless I kick it. I cleaned the carbs out and all that Jazz. I think I’m having too much fuel because it’s got new spark plugs, wires, battery and it won’t stay on for more than turning over when you kick it. But that’s a sort of separate issue. I need to remove the starter motor to test it. My solenoid seems to be fine and reading about right. Clicks when jumped. Etc.

KZ 750 Twin
Any pics of your e-starter (screws) would be helpful.
Here is a e-starter rebuild how-to

Thank you. Yes it’s a 79 kz750 So “rebuilding” is just cleaning the contact spots on these things? Also, anyone know how to remove the two stripped screws that connect the starter to its housing? I presume that’s what’s keeping it in place because I can’t get it loose even with the clutch casing open. I’ll get pics when the sun is back.
