1985 kz1100

Hello riders. I was curious if anybody else had a problem finding parts for their bike. I go to parts sites and type in the year make and model, but the kz1100 isn't an option for 1985. I have to go back to 1982 to find anything.
I took a chance and bought a starter rebuild kit for my model, but nothing in the kit fits my starter. I think I'm going to have to buy a whole new starter but I'm a little concerned about not finding the right one.
Does anybody have a good reliable source for parts on a kz1100?? Any help would be appreciated

In order for folks on this site to provide the best possible support I suggest you add your bike's exact year and model to your signature line. Different model KZ1100 bikes use different parts. When searching for parts I have found the best way is to use the part number rather than just a generic description. To find the part numbers for you bike you may want to take a look at parts diagrams at the Kawasaki site below. Ed

A photo of the motorcycle might help. Did you determine the year by the title or the vin? It's not unusual for an incorrect year to be listed on a title & sometimes a model can be listed wrong. There should be a white vin label & the vin should be stamped into the frame, usually on the right side of the steering head. There was a 1985 ZN1100 which are kind of similar in appearance to a KZ1100 Ltd.

CycleChaos.com has vin & engine number info for a number of Kawasaki models.
Also, Zedder.com has some free info on the site. otherwise, you'd have to buy the CD.

I was told it was 1985 kz1100 LTD shaft when I bought it. The 1985 is on the title but not the model. I guess I'll look into the VIN number and see what that says because you're probably right. Being a ZN wouldn't surprise me. Thanks for the info
