Not long ago I bought a 1977 KZ750B Twin from a guy who was headed off to Japan (Marines). He had the bike for 15 years and its in great shape.

Something is off I think, unless what Im encountering is normal. He put in a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery but didnt change the points or the rectifier regulator. The other day I was on the bike and put it in the garage for 2 days. Today, after 2 days of sitting, I checked the resting battery voltage with a multimeter and it was 13.75!!! How is this possible?

when the bike is idling, the charge shows 13.5 and sometimes dips to 9 or 10 just for a second - I made another post about this. Im putting in a new rectifier tomorrow but am curious, is all this normal?

Check the manual for whatever battery you have. Resting voltage on a lithium phosphate battery can be as high as 14.4 or so. This is the chart from shorai
