Could be the connector for the oil pressure switch but it Looks like more as a bullet connector for the oil level switch/sensor in the oil pan.

The wiring does originate on the oil switch under the bike but I don't know where that blue lead would plug into anything down there.

Did you try digging around that bundle of wires there in the pic? There should be a matching female bullet terminal w protective cover. From the wiring diagram there's a blue-red wire from the wire harness for the oil pressure switch. I can't tell from the pic, but maybe the po used electrical tape to wrap up & hide the wire & terminal for the pressure switch.

Get down to the floor and take a look on the oil pan.

Good pics. AAA+++ ... From one of his other topics, the motorcycle is an 81 GPz550 which should have a typical oil pressure switch, instead of the big oil level sensor. Either way, the wiring should be about the same, if not identical as both are located at the oil pan. If the protective cover is missing from the female bullet, I would get a replacement cover.
Neutral switch. if not done already, while the engine sprocket cover is off, you should clean up the neutral switch connection as it gets grungy, sometimes leading to a glitchy neutral light. My wire terminal didn't fit tight, so I crimped it a little with a good crimper.
