Remember to check for an available un-used female bullet connector fitting on a brown wire somewhere from the harness, which may avoid any splicing by providing a quick clean connection for a male bullet on the wire that feeds battery positive voltage to the Dyna-S (such as on the '76 KZ900-B LTD). The factory wiring diagram should show any extra un-used brown wire female bullet connector that's available in the stock wiring.

Good Fortune! :)

There are a few iterations of the Dyna S (small KZ's versus big Kz's) . This animation shows the minor differences in the wiring... mostly wire color and "tube" color.

I would not take power from a coil. I do what Patton suggested. I use the brown wire on the headlight end of my wiring harness.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.
