I don't believe that there are any wires in the handlebars. Could this be a possible grounding issue?

If the fuse blows instantly, the likelihood is that a 12v wire is coming into contact with a ground somewhere.

If the fuse is glowing hot for a while before blowing, then it could be an over-draw from a load, but that is less likely.

If the fuse is actually just melting from heat rather than current, it could be dirty fuse holders. The resistance I spoke of earlier creates a potential hot spot (evidenced by discolored wires etc). If the hot spot gets hot enough, it can melt a fuse. This has been seen many times on Kzrider.

Over the weekend i got the bike started again. Bad news is the bike idles really sluggish and once i give it some gas it backfires and bogs out. Any idea on what could be causing this?

Possible causes would include too tight intake valve(s).
