Kz650 pink wire was created by vict182
Hello everyone
Doing some maintenance to my kz 650 d4 also called SR. i have been told it is not so common and wasn't sold in the usa.
By the way it has few items stolen from other models, mostly from the kz750 4cyl.
For example rear disc brake, electronic ignition, etc.
My question is: i found a pink wire under the fuel tank, coming out from the main wiring harness. It has a connector. It seems it doesn't have any other connector around to match.
No mention of this cable in the wiring diagram
Anyone knows what is that for?
Thanks

I don't know. I'm assuming it has a plastic connector. What type of connector is it? 1-pin, 4-pin or what? Are there any other wires going to it.
Some possibilities: battery sensor wire (pink wire is found on the 750R models). passing light or distance sensor (non-US models).
Kawasaki KZ650 service manual. jarlef z650. the 1981 KZ650 pdf is in the Files section.
In case your motorcycle shares any electrical components with the 750-4, the 750 manual may have more in-depth information.
KZ750 Manual. 750turbo.com --- Index. 1980-84 750-4 & KZ700. 1983-85 ZX750. pdf manual link near the bottom of the list.
yellow/gold cover w color wiring diagrams. get the one listed as ->> GPz750 Base Manual.pdf. good scans.
The one that says full english is a poorly copied version. all files except the last one should be pdfs (not exe).
I don't know if they'd be much help, but these 750-4 wiring diagrams are easier to read than the 81 KZ650 pdf.
note: the 750-R1 has a pink wire for the battery sensor.
Wiring diagrams. mbsween. bike-night. KZ750L3. Scroll down & click "The Bible" link.
the site has wiring diagrams & that poorly copied 750-4 pdf manual.
Note: some of the wiring diagrams are mislabeled in the links: the 1981 Ltd is an H2, the 82 is an H3, & the 83 is an H4.

I have this diagram for the kz650d4 model. No pink wires. What seems pink in this diagram, is actually red.
I will look into the voltage sensor thing. It seems to be what i was looking for
Thanks a lot!

I must apologize
Ed, in the diagram you posted, i can see that pink wire coming out of the brown main wire, connecting to nothing
I didn't find it when i searched on the kz650 d4 diagram myself. My bad
I found it also in the diagrams that Martin suggested. Also some versions of the 750 have this pink wire connected to nothing
Go figure
Good news there is nothing wrong with my motorbike
Thanks to you both!

I think the wire is just a powered accessory lead.

It is in the diagram. It doesn't connect to anything. It is switched 12v power, so like OKC says, it's probably for accessories.gordone wrote: I have 81 sr 650cc, cannot rember to seen pink wirer.... can it be some custom wiring?
