mystery wires was created by Robb2018
I've pretty much got all the electrics working on my KZ900 I'm rebuilding... just a couple mystery wires. First is a black wire with a ring connector coming off the rectifier. I actually took a picture of this area before I disassembled the bike but can't really tell from that. From my pic it looks like it goes to the right and back. Next, I changed my handlebar controls and have these 3 blues... one with a female coming off the main harness and two blue males marked black and white coming off the left and right controls respectively. Also, I had all the indicator lights working till I put the headlight into the bucket and tightened it down, then I lost the high beam indicator. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just put a new battery in mine and the neg terminal has the big thick black lead and one like the one in your pic also.

So where did you connect the black lead with the ring connector then?

On the right side near the upper rear engine mount is a M6 threat in the upper engine casting housing where all ground negative ring connectors have a collective negative terminal point for battery/engine/frame.

OK so the black coming off the rectifier goes to ground. I figured out the blues by the coils... the blue with the black tip is for the high beam indicator and it obviously goes to the blue female right next to it. The blue with the white tip coming from the right control I'm still not sure about. Since these are new aftermarket controls it may be for an accessory that I don't have... I think these controls are used on several bikes, KZ1000 included. So with the new indicator bulbs i got in the mail today, everything's working. The problems I've had wiring this bike have centered mainly on inconsistencies with the wiring diagram not matching the wiring colors on my bike in several places. I've heard old Kaws are known for a lack of standardization also. Anyway... next week I throw on a few more coats of clear and that should do it. It'll be great if I actually get to ride this bike this summer.
