Clutch Lever
24 May 2018 13:14 - 24 May 2018 13:23
My bike has two wires hooked to a switch (looks like a switch to me on clutch handle)two wires going to head light bucket but not connected any ideas what these are for and where they should plug in at?
Well, I think I found out what they are for safety lock out switch (Starter won t engage unless clutch is pulled. Like I said the wires were cut in the headlight bucket. Bike starts without them hooked up. Any problems this will cause by NOT being hooked up?

You don't absolutely need the clutch lever switch, but I wouldn't bypass it. You or someone nearby goofing around could unexpectedly hit the start button while the bike is in gear, then down goes the bike.

Exactly! I saw this happen way back when on a new Yamaha. The owner had just bought the bike. It was on the side stand and he hit the starter button. The bike jumped off the side stand and went down in the gravel parking lot which made a mess of the brand new tank. He didn't know the bike was in first gear. Ed
