Don't know if anyone here has had the problem of a very weak spark?, I've got new coils, leads, plugs, point's, all the contact's have been cleaned. I'm getting 12.5v at the battery but only 10v at the coils.
I'm sure I've seen a diagram for a wiring mod somewhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Jase

Not a lot but it is easier on the connections and wiring. I put mine up front where it gets cool air just in front of the tank.

Not to poo poo the mod trick but like Patton says there's probably a poor connection some where and the mod just kinda covers it up. I get 12.16 and 12.17 at the coils without it but maybe still someday I'll do it just for that little bit extra.

Agree. The mod trick may help the bike run better, but only because it bypasses the problem. All the bikes ran fine without the mod when they were new. Ed

Agreed Ed, EXCEPT, my bike is not new anymore, in fact it is 37 years old and it does get ridden, a LOT.. And last week I was riding in the rain (copper oxides). Now that said, I am also one that would rather find and FIX the problem, rather than put a band aid on it like the relay, but when all else fails, and I still have low voltage to my kill switch (yellow / red in headlight), I am trying to figure out where to mount a relay and still make all the connections look clean. :-)

This is where my relay is. I have it zip tied to the frame. I did it not only because of age, I also did it because I'm running a Dyna S with green 3 ohm coils. They suck a lot of power and it's easier on the wiring. connections and switches. All they have to deal with is the relay power,,,,next to nothing. When I installed my HID headlight it wouldn't work without the relay supplied. I also have a relay for my duel horns. I was overhauling my wiring loom and thanks to one of our members (ninerider) I have a almost fresh one to replace it.
Even with the new loom I'll keep my relays. B)

The sense of a relay is to switch a high current electric circuits like horns, starter motors, headlights, (high/low beam), to relieve the remote switches of high current that causes sparks that burns the connector surface or sometimes welding them together.
