3 wire Voltage Regulator help

Hey guys,

I have my bike torn down at the moment and I noticed a wire was broken on my 3 wire voltage regulator. I'm not sure if it was before or after the tear down, but either way, I need help on identifying what exactly the wiring diagram looks like for this? The middle brown wire is broken. Mine looks like the picture. I also have a Dyna S system...don't know if that makes a difference or not.

That's not a standard regulator/rectifier, nor a standard 3-phase rectifier as found on the early models.
If the rear of the unit is a ground connection, it could be a minimal single phase rectifier; you could test for diode resistance between the brown wires.

My guess is that it's a random doohickey that's fallen into your box. It looks too small to work as a shunt R/R for anything drawing more load than than a old Triumph.

The KZ 900 had one of those. It had to do with the hazard system. Not only was the switch bulbus and ugly, the beeper made horrible chirping/gurgling sounds without it. I cut it out of the loom when I used it on my Z1. Didn't miss it one bit.

I put my lighter in it's place. Couldn't find the bracket so I made my own.

So this piece is literally obsolete then? I can cut it out all together and it won't hurt anything else?

Thanks guys!

I liked the hazard idea but the turn signal beeper was driving me NUTS.
