This happened to me last month with my 750 (I have a 650 also though).
Im betting its the coils or the battery. I changed my coil and battery when the same happened to me, and the bike has been fine since.

I had the same thing happen to my KZ650 several years ago, and even though the fuses looked good one of them was not. The little filament inside the glass tube didn’t burn through from over voltage. Instead, the end of the filament had broken free from the metal cap at the end of the fuse. So even though the fuse looked perfect, when I checked it with a multi-meter I found it was no good. It had simply failed due to old age rather than a voltage problem. I replaced all the fuses just to be safe and have not had any problems since.

Yep. He can test for continuity with a multimeter!
