BATTERY for 76 - 77 KZ's was created by 650Dude
I have a 77 KZ650 and a KZ750B twin. I noticed the lead acid battery in the KZ750 is leaking. Any suggestion on a aftermarket batter?

Hi 650Dude,
If you're talking about conventional wet lead/acid batteries, anything from Taiwan or Japan is fine in our experience. Chinese crap is exactly that.

We've been buying from either WalMart or Meijers.

The battery I have in my 78 KZ1000 D is a Caltric BA-154. Currently on eB for 44 bucks, shipped! Fits perfect, same stats as the Yuasa cited by Texas KZ. It's sealed, AGM type. Been working fine for me for 3 months.

I am using a maintenance free Duralast Gold power sport battery purchased from Auto Zone and it was around 85 bucks.
Made in America ( I think )
Works good so far

I looked at that battery the other day. The EXT14. The reviews are absolutely HORRIBLE, like consistently horrible. I feel like i dodged a bullet on that Duralast battery.

A gentleman over at Shorei batteries told me, when I was going to buy that battery from the company, that KZ750B bikes shouldnt use a lithium battery unless the regulator/rectifier has been upgraded. Lithium batteries, Im told, fry stock parts.

Glad someone said it.

Flooded wet cell lead/acid and AGM batteries require similar charge regulation. Not so with lithium batteries.

The charging needs of lithium batteries are far beyond the capabilities of the relatively crude systems of motorcycle systems, unless said system was designed specifically for a lithium battery. Example:
