Kz750 twin Smallest battery for starter was created by Ltd-18ner
I have an 83 kz750 twin....could anyone tell me what the smallest battery I could get that will work with the starter? I see a lot of threads for kick only bikes and small batteries. But couldn't seem to find one for the starter.

I would assume whatever battery Kawasaki put in was the smallest lead-acid it could get away with.
If you want to go significantly smaller/lighter, you'd have to go to a lithium battery of some sort.

Yah. Shorai or anti gravity battery? Anyone know how many cranking amps the starter needs?

I would just look up what the stock battery has, then get a comparable lithium. If you go too low, you can damage the starter, so you should try to get at least what the original battery provides.

Agree. Personally I wouldn't risk creating electrical problems by ignoring the bike's specs. I don't have the specs for the 1983 KZ750 twin, but they may be the same as the earlier KZ750 twin as shown below. Ed

I use a LI-ion battery on my Z1 900 project bike with 14 Ah
Weights only 0,9 kg, is smaller in size and the starter motor pulls like hell!!!
Can mount in every position and is fully charge in 30 minutes.
The same 14 Ah lead/AGM battery weights 4.9 kg
Any questions?

I've got an Anti-gravity AG801 in my 76 750 twin and it's great. Way stronger than any lead battery I've ever had and as noted it weighs next to nothing
