KZ 1000 Right side switch wiring issue

Hi KZ Forum,

I am replacing the right side handlebar switch on my 1977 KZ 1000 A. I purchased a new switch from Z1 but unfortunately they were out of the direct replacement so I bought the 900 switch which is very similar. I have the headlight and speedo/tach off at the moment.

The battery is new and fully charged; if I short across the solenoid the engine turns over with no issue. It looks per the wiring diagram that if I plug in the black (ground) and the yellow/red bullets under the tank and press the start button the circuit should be closed and the engine should turn over - it does not.

I have shorted the clutch lockout to test but still no power to the solenoid. So, maybe I am not reading the diagram correctly and something else needs to be connected to close the loop and send power the solenoid.

Help with the wiring diagram would appreciated.

Thank you

The kill switch needs to be on for power to go to the coils and solenoid.
