79 kz 650 electrical issue please help was created by nmwyre
i have a 1979 kz 650 i believe its the c1 i am blowing the 20A tube type main fuse every time i turn the key to ignition i can watch the fuse pop immediately ... i am not blowing the rear or front lighting fuses so i know that it is in the ignition side of the house. i have put new battery in it to have a good fresh starting point. i have checked the ground from battery to the side of the motor but when i trace the white with red strip wiring from fuse to the rectifier i have a wire soldered in wire from the battery is this correct? as seen in the picture all the electrical tape in the wire harness is a soldered connection is this normal or has someone hacked this thing together? please help i am wanting to get this thing running down the road asap.

If wires are soldered together, it's a hack job.
Cut the white wire going to the rectifier. If it doesn't blow a fuse then, the rectifier may be shorted.
