MSD MC1: where to mount it ? was created by irvin
Hi,
I've already seen msd products used in classic cars and their ignition power is quite impressive so I was considering buying an old MC1 on eBay and see how it performs on my Z1000ST.
However when I read the manual available online I noticed that this unit is quite big, almost as big as the 6AL used in cars I would say. So my question is simple, where do you mount these MC1 boxes on your rides ? I mean without removing the battery or the air box...

Not familiar with this MSD Box size or function.
I used to hang my old Gerex ignition box on frame up front above exhaust pipes
and below lower triple tree where alot of guys mount
their oil coolers

Thanks !
Gerex and MSD MC1 are both CDI ignition units as I understand it, so if your mounting setup was reliable there is no reason why it wouldn't work for a MC1.
Do you have a picture of your bike with the Gerex box on it ?

I already don't have point on the ST so I don't need the full dyna system.
The msd box is not used as an ignition trigger, it's in between the trigger (points, hall sensor, whatever) and the coils and discharges its condesators into the coils several time each time it is triggered.
But maybe I'm missing something and Dyna also has this CDI ignition feature ?
