Can anyone advise what this little gadget is and where it goes / mounts?
Have scoured the service manual from cover to cover and am still none the wiser.

Thanks for looking :)

Turn signal buzzer? Brown and orange wires running to it? I had one on my 76 KZ400 and I removed it. I cannot remember if I had one on my 78 KZ400 or not, if so I removed it from that one too.

yep, that looks like it. where was it mounted on your bike? The bracket end looks like it somehow fits into the molding in the headlamp cover bracket, but the angles are all wrong and it doesn't allow the headlight to fit in any way it goes in.
