The factory electronic ignition, if in working order, is far more efficient, and probably less troublesome, even though it requires an additional igniter box. The Dyna S is a good choice to replace points, but I wouldn't recommend it over the factory electronic ignition.
As a side note, the Dyna S would require different coils. But if you're in the market for new coils anyway, I guess that is not much of a factor.
I know you suspect the igniter (based on your other topic), so hopefully that will fix it. If not, there is a chance you can make the igniter yourself, if you can get the right GM HEI igniter modules, (they are getting harder to find, but are still pretty cheap).

The igniter is probably the cheapest/easiest part to get/build, even with HEI modules getting harder to come by. The coils and good pickups are getting getting pricey.

Thanks for your thoughts on that, I figure I'd be about 70.00 to make one, double that for the dyna unit minus the coils because I'm gonna get new ones anyway.

I just got mine after much going back and forth on it and honestly the bike starts a tad easier but not much if any performance to be gained.
If your good at setting points I'd just leave it

I have no spark in 2and3, misdiagnosed it to be igniter, but is the pickup coil. Probably be Getting the dyna and new coils.

In that case you might as well do the Dyna.
