Fuse Blowing 1982 Z1000J
25 Sep 2016 04:31
I've got a fuse blowing when I turn on the ignition, it's not the main fuse it's the 10A one that goes on the ignition circuit, is there anywhere that is particularly prone to shorts, or am I searching through a 34 year old wiring loom until I find it.

I've had that issue a few times over the years. Never found the short to be in the loom. I found a couple of shorts in the headlamp housing and also the engine earth

Think I've found it, right hand handle bar switch is the cause.
I've also rerouted the loom so it no longer rests on the cam cover, whoever built my bike was poor at wiring, I think they got so far with building it and then had to finish it in a hurry.
Very tempted to rewire the whole bike, the Kawasaki loom is over complicated.
