Battery from hybrid car for a bike. was created by car5car
I took apart battery from Honda Insight. Battery has 20 long sticks, each stick has 6 D batteries 1.2V.
2 sticks have 14.4V.
If they used for a bike, they will get charged probably up to 13-13.5V.
Bike needs 2 or 4 sticks. I am sure 15" sticks can be taken apart.
Lithium rechargeable batteries can be bought in Walmart.
Are batteries like that for sale? I mean batteries ready to install.

Looks cool. Sticks of dynamite as a power source. Very 'Roadrunner'!

They have very low self-discharge and last longer.
How long does bike battery last usually? 3 years?

The lead acid battery on my daily ride (Z1R) is 10 years old and still going strong.
The Shorai Lipo that I bought for my 900 café lasted 80 miles.

If cell is 1.2V, it can't be Lithium it has to be nickel metal hydride cell. The size, weight, and power density of Ni-MH is not for bikes. The battery size would be too large and heavy.
