How to use points plate pry points on kz650 was created by aenikolopov
Hi, I'm trying to adjust the ignition timing on my 1980 kz650 F1. I have set the points gap, and am now moving the plate the points are mounted to. I understand that KZ650s, before moving to electronic ignition, had 2 types of points plates setups, illustrated below:

Mine is of the sort pictured in (A). I am trying to move the plate, and I think I am supposed to be able to use the set of 4 notches at approximately 1 o'clock on the plate to move the plate around. However, I see nothing to pry against. How am I supposed to be using this?

If it were me, I would loosen the screws alittle and put a screwdriver in the slots and give it a slight tap.

Yes, just loosen the 3 screws holding the plate, and then it can be rotated.

Right, I can do that, it just seemed to me that having several of them implied some sort of ability to pry, rather than just insert and tap. Anyway, thanks for the advice!
