Which Dyna coils to use?
11 Oct 2015 15:54
I have a 1978 KZ650 C2 I'm starting some initial work and found out that the 1-4 coil has a bad secondary. Primary on both coils tested at 4.4 and 4.6 ohms and the 2-3 secondary tested at 14.3kohms. I was wondering which Dyna coil would best match up with the bike? Also do I need to use non-suppressed wires w/resistor caps?

Please get your hands on a factory Kawasaki service manual. Inside you will find the resistance values for your coils. I believe that bike has points so that suggests you need the black Dyna coils, which are 5 ohms I believe. Please double check this before throwing down your money.
You need to use either Resistor caps or suppression wires, not both together. Take your choice.
