I noticed the headlight was twisted in the bucket so that the word top was about an inch to the right of where it should be. After taking it completely apart I found that the tabs on the sealed beam must have been put on wrong. There is no way it can be lined up with the top of the light lined up with the top of the bucket. What I would really like to do is be able to put something better in place of what I have now. Has anyone done this?
Thanks, Jerry

Thanks 650ed. I have bought things from Summer before so I will check them out. I also just found in an old Dennis kirk catalog a listing for a halogen headlight with a 60/55 h4 bulb. I have always had good service on them also.
Thanks again, Jerry

I've had excellent service from Dennis Kirk too (I bought tires there.) One thing I like about the Wagner bulb is that low beam only draws 35 watts, but it is still bright. That lower wattage puts less drain on the charging system. Ed

Another alternative is to get a halogen headlight from an 80s model --- you'd need the lens unit, dust cover & H4 bulb. I think the headlight rings & buckets are kinda universal, so it's probably a be a direct fit. However, you should do some parts comparisons to verify. Z1Enterprises.com has the H4 bulb.
My 81 650-CSR had a dim sealed beam, so I installed the stuff from an 82 750-4 Ltd --- it was a direct swap.
The lens unit was cloudy, so I cleaned it with denatured alcohol.

For what it is worth, I am running a Quartz Hi-Lo 2x100 watter in my KZ1000.... on low beam the 100 watts with my two 3 ohm Dyna coils really taxes the charging system at low speeds.
The LED Hi-Lo sounds very interesting but from what others have said, the jury is still out on, space required, long life and heat issues... what is the actual current drain?
