I'm also trying to figure out if I'm having issues with the rest of my ignition. the pickup coils are showing the correct resistance but the ground readings are strange, I've checked a couple of times and sometimes it shows open and other times I'm getting a resistance reading. I haven't tested with heat yet.
I'm a bit of a dope when it comes to electrical and so I just want to make sure I'm reading things right.I haven't tested my ingniter yet because i was confused about the procedure.

I've noticed the pick-ups resistance outside FSM specs but they work fine. The 4 way Hitachi mini block connt4ector and terminals can be easily changed.
New 7mm non resistor HT wire and caps usually makes a difference on old bikes, easy job.

...I didn't think to check the condition of the connectors themselves but they didn't seem to show any indication off damage

I'll find some connectors then. Should I replace the coils with 3Ω or maybe get a Maxi-dwell system?

The big question is would I be done with it?swest wrote: I had one like that in the 70's. I still have it laying in my junk pile. GM style points, etc. The switch broke early on. I'd get a Dyna S and be done with it. About the same price.

Well then, sign me up.swest wrote: It bypasses the igniter. It will work with 3-5 OHM coils.
