1981 kz 750 4 ltd starter clutch was created by DBINWI
Picked up a nice 81 750 LTD seems to have a starter clutch issue
Question- are parts still available to remove the engine and put in new components
What are some of the while you are at it things that should be done to insure not having to do it again
I have several 750 twins and a 1988 Voyager and starter problems have never been an issue
It does seem like a lot of work and I am considering scraping the bike if these starting problems are common after fixing
Any help or encouragement would be appreciated

You do not need to pull the engine out of the frame to replace the stater clutch. You pull the oil pan and work from under the engine. If you decide to do the job post something here and we can add some information, but you will need the Kawasaki Service Manual to do the job. Otherwise you will have problems.

I believe you will find the parts are still available; try online dealers such as Partzilla.com; ronayers.com; etc. The CLUTCH-ASSY-ONEWAY Part #13193-1062 comes with the parts labels #9; 10; 11; and 12 (circled in red in diagram below). You also should replace the SPROCKET,STARTER,58T | 58T Part #12046-1032 (circled in blue in diagram below) because ridges wear into the boss and make the starter clutch slip. Ed
