2 brush starter on a 4 brush starter application

I have a 1982 KZ750 LTD with a Mitsuba SM-8208 starter, yes that is the 4 brush starter. I was Wondering if anyone knew if a 1977-up KZ650/KZ750 Mitsuba 2 brush starter would work? The armature on my starter is ruined.
