Kawasaki Z1000'A1 1976 Battery cables was created by nkossel91413
Hallo,

I am 59 from Germany and own a Kawasaki Z1000 A1.
After renewing the battery I forgot unfortunately which cable ( red, Black, Green/ yellow ) has to be connected where to the battery...
Where is the thick black mass cable connected to the engine ?
If someone can post a picture it would be a great help.

Thank you in advance .

Heavy red cable attaches to positive battery post.

Heavy black cable attaches to negative battery post, and other end typically bolts onto rear of engine.

Good Fortune! :)

If your battery cables are damaged and unusuable, most welding supply places sell welding cable that is more flexible than what came with your motorcycle. They may be able to swage(crimp) on new terminal ends for you, if not, go to a shop that works on electric forklifts and electric golf carts, as they should be able to fabricate cables for you.

Welding cable comes in two colors, RED, and BLACK. I'd imagine that 6 AWG (American Wire Gauge), will work, if not, go up to 4 AWG with the proper terminal ends.
