KZ900 Question
04 Jun 2015 18:20
My battery dies this week, the fluids were low in it. I got another battery and charged it overnight. I decided to check the voltage to the coils and found that I have 12.19 volts with the bike running and it goes up to 12.6 volts at 3,000 rpm at the battery. I am seeing 11.60 volts at the coil with the bike idling and 12.08 volts at the coil at 3,000 rpm. Is this an acceptable voltage ? I also check the compression and I have 125 psi on #1, 135 psi on #2, 130 psi on #3, and 135 psi on #4. The compression was checked with the throttle open and the engine cold. My question is if the battery/coil voltage is acceptable.

Hi BK,
Those voltages sound good. A half volt drop through the harness to the coils actually sound pretty good. A lot of these bikes see a lot more voltage drop as the switches and connectors get dirty and corroded.
