KZ550-C1 Starter Problems was created by Animenima
For a while my starter was only working half the time and would just buzz the other half of the time. Now it doesn't do anything at all. I checked the switch, and I checked the solenoid. Everything seems to be working fine, so I'm guessing the starter went bad. Only problem is that I don't know where the starter is. The wire from the solenoid looks like it goes into the crankcase or near there, but I can't tell. Any help at all is appreciated. Will provide pictures when I can.

Welcome aboard! You need to buy a Kawasaki Service Manual. Be sure to get one for your bike's exact year & model. They usually are available on eBay. I would not recommend working on the bike without one as it contains all the information you will need to perform tasks correctly. Ed

The buzzing sound can be the battery. Check that first.

The starter is behind the sprocket cover, under a chrome starter cover under the carbs.

Check the battery voltage before you condemn the starter.

A battery with a dead cell can measure 12 volts but will not have the AMP's to turn a starter.
