1980 kz1000 ltd - How do these coils mount?

Working on a kz1000. Only had one Accel coil when I picked it up, grabbed a stock pair from the salvage yard. How on earth do these mount to the frame? The studs line up with the holes in the frame, but if I bolt them in, the high tension leads run right into each other. And the plug wires are too short. Either I'm doing something wrong, or these coils came from a different bike.

A picture would help immensely. Please. And thank you.

Not sure about your model but the coils on my KZ1000CSR (which is pretty close to an LTD) dont bolt directly onto the frame. There are 2 plates that they bolt to,which in turn, bolt to the frame.
Good luck.

Right. i have a couple different style mounts available, but they are of no help. Guess it's time to get creative.

Do I need to use this big ol' resistor, or is that related to the Accel coil?

I have that, but there is no tab on the frame to bolt to. I think I have a plan. Couple pieces of allthread, some spacers. I bet I have a mixture of model years going on here. Thank you for the pics!

Stock, the coils may have been mounted directly to the frame on an 80 1000 Ltd. I think that was pretty common for the 70s models & some from the 1980 model year.

Okay. Figured it out. The coils are from a newer model, and the high tension leads are located in a different spot. They should bolt to the frame, but the nuts that hold the leads in interfer with each other.
