everyone's favorite topic, Wiring! I'm trying to resurrect my 1978 kz1000 LTD (B2). In its previous life it was put out to pasture in a field in Vermont for 10+ years. The existing harness is all hacked up anyways, on top of being crunchy and corroded. I have seen complete wiring harnesses from Z1 enterprises and Ebay and others but they're always for A models or Z1's or whatever but never LTD's. Does anybody know where to get one for LTD? or has anyone purchased one of the other model harnesses and made the necessary changes to make it work? any help would be appreciated!

I know pictures help so here is like the only one I have from when i first got it out of the field but with a new seat and grab bar stuck on. The other one shows the direction I am going and some progress made.

I don't think theres any difference between the main harness on an A versus a B series bike.

The difference is in the headlight switch wiring on the throttle housing, and the b2 has emergency flasher switch on the left housing.

I know it’s an old thread, but I’m also needing a new main wiring harness for a B2 LTD. Can’t seem to locate one and they are definitely different from the B1 or earlier A models with the hazard switch and circuit and the earlier models had the headlight switch running through the rectifier.

Red Line Cycle sells new wiring harness's and will modify them to fit an LTD.

I have made several purchases from Jim at RedLine and always received high quality correct parts... He's an honest guy... Wants to talk to you about your reason for the parts requested and sometimes talks himself out of a sale... To me thats someone that's not just in it for the money... I highly recommend him...

I have had great dealings with Jim for many years too

I was more curious if you had any first hand knowledge about the LTD harness

For many years looking online at his catalog he didnt state he would modify the harness to be spot on for the LTD

Did you buy one ?

I have not purchased a harness.... I misspoke, His website mentioned he will modify the Handlebar Switches for any '77 thru '80 1000. Thanks for making me take a second look at his site... Sorry for the confusion.
