Welcome aboard! According to Kawasaki.com the part number is 21066-1014 (see image below). They are no longer available from Kawasaki, but when they were available the list price was more than $335. Here's a place that has a new old stock one for $175.

I have bought from them before and was very pleased. Ed

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThis one might work. Or search eebbaayy for 1980 KZ650 voltage regulator.
I guess your 650 has a single phase charging system???

Be VERY careful about what you buy from Rick's. They do no always know which parts go with which bikes, and they sell "Universal" stuff that may not be compatible with your bike. Try these folks:

Thanks for the warning 650ed. After lots of calls and research, i found a yard in Upstate NY, that has the original Japanese part from a running bike for $30 shipping included. This guy came recommended as honest and knowledgeable man . I think I will try him. for 30 bucks, its worth a try.
Thanks

If buying used, I would check to see if there are any modern bikes w a similar charging system.
My 81 650 is 3-phase & I installed a reg-rec from a 2007 Ninja 500 ($25)(credit to loudhvx).
The part is virtually identical to the old stock unit.
