1979 KZ400 rubber battery strap

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement rubber strap that holds the battery in to my 1979 kz400? Snapped off while riding.

If there are no direct replacements, does anyone know how long the strap measures? I see a bunch of replacements for other bikes that look like they would fit, but I need to find something the right length.

Thanks

According to the cross-reference at Kawasaki.com, the Battery Band (92072-006) is still an Active part & was used on a bunch of models, including the 2001 ZX600 & 03 ZX-7R, et al.
At places such as RonAyers or Partzilla it's listed for around $5 or $6.
Several on eebbaayy are $20-25, ouch, but you can find them there for less than that.

From those ebay pictures, the 92072-006 looks too short, but maybe mine was just really stretched out.

for $5, I will give it a try.

When you get the new strap, clean it with soap and water, let it dry, and then spray on some Silicone & wipe off the excess. I think your old strap dried out and broke.

I guess it's possible the cross-ref info is incorrect, so you should do some poking around the diagrams at Kawasaki.com or Partzilla, and look around eebbaayy some more.

Whenever I need something, Kawasaki.com is just a starting point. Then I check what I actually have & compare it to the Kaw drawings & eebbaayy photos, then decide whether or not the thing will fit.

Edit: 92072-006. L = 142.1 mm. for the 2008 Vulcan 500. 142 mm = 5.6".
