Blowing fuses

Ok i hope you guys can help with this one. My bike recently started blowing the main fuse and i all the electrics went out. Turns out there was some wiring that had heated up and darkened the insulation and i had it replaced, main fuse ok now. Now the bike is blowing the 10 amp fuse and the running lights and tail lights go out, headlight is ok, bike runs fine. I've replaced the fuse 3 times already and it keeps blowing, usually when i start away from a stop. Then i only had a 20 amp fuse left to throw in there, bad idea i know but it was all i had and it was at night. This time the running lights, tail light and head light go out and the fuse has NOT blown. Bike runs ok, blinkers work and brake light works and hazards work. I'm scratching my head. All i can think is a wire was shorting out before and now there's a wire that's burned through somewhere. Any help is appreciated.

This link will enable the KZ1000-E1 wiring diagram to be downloaded:

Am guessing it's the same as E2.

Including information about bike year and model is helpful to viewers and usually elicits better responses. It's easy to put the information in your signature where it shows in all posted messages, past and future. And the signature may be changed whenever and as often as desired. If wanting a signature showing information about the bike in posted messages, it's easy to do. Here's how:

That's the guess I would have made.

You're going to have to get the wiring diagram for your motorcycle, and a multimeter that can do continuity. Each circuit will have to be checked to find the fault. It may be as simple as where the main harness goes around the steering head, or a place where wires have rubbed through their insulation, either together, or shorting to the frame, as this is where the Negative side of the battery is connected to. Most wire harnesses have splices, where circuits are joined together, and if one or more has rubbed together, this may be why the fuses are blowing.

You'll need tape to be able to re-wrap the repaired area, to protect the wiring from water intrusion, and physical damage.

If possible, have a diagram so you can mark out where you've been, as the lines are small, and hard to read
