What did I kill? was created by BigZero
I have a 1983 750 Spectre that I inherited from my father. I got in a hurry the other day while hooking up the trickle charger and accidentally reversed the leads. I only touched the pos to the neg long enough to make a spark. Now the electrical system is going crazy. I got it running, but the tach goes all over the place. The lights for fuel and oil are on all the time. The stator is also not charging at all. I didn't see any smoked fuses, or melted wires.
Sorry to make this my first post, but I figured there would be someone on here that would know what type of damage I have done. I am good with the mechanical stuff, but when it comes to electrical problems, I am in the dark.
Thanks in advance for any info.

I wonder if it could have done something to reg/rect?
Id check all your ground wires/connections to start with, then maybe test reg/rect.

This would be my guess too. Might have burned a diode.
