Blinker Issues
01 Jun 2014 11:01
Greetings everyone. I'm trying to help a buddy with his '82 KZ750 Spectre. It's been bobbed and the factory turn signals and brake light have been replaced with aftermarket.
When the left turn signal is activated it is slow to turn on, but otherwise works well. The real problem is with the right signal. When pressed the blinker doesn't work at all but the tail light, headlight and dash lights all flash!
I downloaded a wiring diagram, everything appears to be hooked up correctly. The only deviation from the diagram was the yellow/black wire to the tail light/brake light was cut, presumably because the light is grounded through the frame. I also replaced the flasher relay to no success.
The top fuse had been replaced with one that is longer that the rest, but it is the correct amperage and I can not find one the same length at any of the local auto or hardware stores. The only other thing I can think of is possibly a pinched or crossed wire, which I'm dreading having to track down.
Any advice would be very greatly appreciated!

Odd behavior if turn signals is almost always a ground issue. sounds like the taillight/marker light circuit is grounding through the turn signal and thus when you power that circuit you take away it's ground, causing them to go out.

I think I found the problem. The right front blinker wire was pinched and making contact with the frame. However we managed to blow out the new blinker relay... So gonna have to order a new one to find out for sure.
Thanks for your help!
