Problems wiring an aftermarket headlight dimmer was created by sterlingchafey
Hello, new here. I am on the last days of building a 1981 kz750 café. It has turned out pretty cool, but I am stuck on the headlight. I installed an aftermarket dimmer/horn/kill switch, that came with no instructions. The switch has 5 wires coming off of it:
2 red wires - dimmer
1 black wire - black button
1 brown wire - red button
1 pink wire - Ground
I am using the black button for the horn and that is working fine, not using the red button.
The problem is I cannot figure out how to wire up the headlight high and low. The wiring diagram says for:
high beam connect Red/Yellow & Blue/Orange - Blue/Yellow & Red/Black
Low beam connect Red/Yellow & Blue/Yellow - Blue/Orange & Red/Black
I can't figure out how to connect these to the switches two red wires.
I feel like I am over complicating this in my head.
Any thoughts?
Cheers

If your bike has Kawasaki's "Reserve Lighting System", it will try to turn on either high or low beam(depending on which one is burned out). To by pass the system, read this:

Reserve Lighting Unit Bypass

Remove the Reserve Lighting Unit, then jumper the blue wire to the blue/yellow wire on the RLU(Reserve Lighting Unit) harness connector. That will bypass the Reserve Lighting Unit.
