New tail light/turn signal was created by schmjj01
Ok for the life of me for some reason I can not figure this out...

Can anyone help me with how to wire a new tail light/turn signal assembly on my 82 KZ550c? The new assembly has 5 wires (red, black, green, yellow and whit) my bike has seven wires (black/yellow, blue/red, green for tail lights and green, tan and two black/yellow). I got it to were I can make the new assembly light up but it will not get brighter for braking. I would appreciate any help I can get on this. I think I'm just having a bad day but getting frustrated and thought id just ask for some help. Thank you

I'm going strictly from memory and not sure exactly what wires do what on your light (no idea what light you are using or where you got it) but....
Black/yellow > Black (Ground)
Blue/red > ? (Brake light)
Brown > ? (Tail/running light)
Green > ? (L or R turn signal)
Grey > ? (other turn signal)
2 black/yellow (not used, were separate signal grounds)

Not sure if that helps or not.

My guess is that black is ground, and the other four wires are:

power tail running lamp

power tail brake lamp

power left turn

power right turn

There should be a brown wire (hot) into the rear brake switch, and a blue wire from the switch to the brake light filament in the rear bulb.

When the brake pedal is pressed down, it's supposed to activate the rear brake switch, which connects hot brown > blue > rear bulb brake filament > black/yellow > ground.
