Voltage while running? was created by Shdwdrgn
Since I don't have a running engine right now, I have no way to measure... What should I expect for the running voltage on a 1981 KZ1000? Will it be 14.4V like on a car, or would it be closer to an actual 12V? I'm playing with some LEDs and want to make sure I use the right resistor for maximum brightness.

Nominal is about 14V, I don't know what the tolerance is. I would guess probably +/- 0.5V. But when I check mine, it's pretty close to 14V revving the engine above 2k RPM.

OK, thanks, that will work. There's a bit of tolerance in LEDs, so the +/-0.5v shouldn't do any damage. I got in some LEDs on Saturday, just need to tape some in place in the turn signals and see what kind of brightness I actually get from them.
