Oil temp sensor?
15 Feb 2014 00:36
I am pretty new to building a cafe racer but ive been learning as I go and probably asking some stupid questions haha.
Anyway, I just bought an oil temperature gage from Dakota Digital and I'm wondering if the 1982 KZ1000 has a stock oil temperature sensor and if it does, where is it?
If it doesn't where would be the best place to put an aftermarket sensor?

I don't have a clue either.
No, there is no oil temp sending unit or gauge on a 82 KZ1000 (or any other KZ that I know of).
I haven't had a KZ1000 in years, so I don't know where you would mount a oil temp sending unit, but I'm sure there is a way.

They sell the threaded sensors on their website so I just need to figure out where i could drill and tap a hole that would put the sensor in constant contact with the oil.

If you are going custom anyway modify the stock oil level sending unit to work as the oil temp unit.
