OK, maybe it is possible. The data from this charging IC for Li Fe PO4 batteries shows the fully charged cell voltage should be about 3.6V/cellso a "12V" battery would have four cells and be fully charged at approximately 14.4V which is closer to being compatible with a MC charging system......

I've been looking for a recommendation from I believe it was ricks motorsports electrics, it said that the 1 pc. reg/rect replacement for the old style 2 piece setup isn't recommended or couldn't guarantee them for use with the lithium batteries due to voltage not being stable enough to maintain the proper charging parameters for them. Don't hold me to it being Ricks but I do recall reading that. Just can't find it again.

I have two antigravity batteries. Swapping your vintage rectifier for a mosfet one is is supposed to ideal for these batteries.

You can get mosfet regulators a couple ways. Off wire harness online stores or from junkyards/eBay. Expect to pay 50 on average. You will either need to make your own wiring as they have specific connectors or buy connectors from these wire harness shops.

To know which regulators are mosfet, search Google and there should be a thread in a Honda forum IIRC.

I used combined reg/recs from here
www.oregonmotorcycleparts.com/rectifiers3p.html

with the antigravity battery for my CB 750. I believe the KZ charging system works the same:

Never had any issues again!

Thanks
I'll try the mosfet ones, it's been a long time since I've looked at this stuff.

I've had mine in for two years going on 3. Starts strong and has not failed yet. I love it but bang for the buck it is not. I bought a battery for my kz that lasted five years, the fiberglass mat gel cells are really nice. I would never again run a battery that required a vent hose. Never.
I had a Yuasa battery that only lasted 3 years and I paid three times (almost) the amount I bought this gel cell for. I think I even bought it off of ebay. five years. My 03 rex battery I put in my 02, still going strong after 11 years. HEY. I heard that the factory stock batteries last much longer than replacements? I dunno. I do know that I always take them out in the winter and trickle charge them till they are full then take them off and leave them alone. When I did leave my battery on a trickle charger it died so... The weight advantage on a heavy kaw is not going to even be felt. Sure, you might notice a 1 pony increase but I doubt it. So, get a gel cell or shorai but I know a gel will last a long time and I know that the lithium batteries have issues, even heard that they like to explode like some cell batteries do after years of use. I dunno. I do know my experience has been all positive with both gel and lithium.

I've been using this "believe it or not" a LiPo hobby battery in my Kat for 8 months.
It has superior cranking power and has never let me down as yet.
A balance charger is recommended...but I haven't had to use it as yet.

Yes, and he stands behind his equipment. He states that if you wire it wrong and it fries he will replace it at cost. That's pretty awesome.
