I would be on that like a fat kid on a cupcake!!!! Do magnetos produce anything like a "blower whine"? Bonus!!

I'm still looking for a bike for my project and came across this 78' k1000 with 23k miles and this kind of magneto.
Asking price is $2500, bike seem to look good, at least from the pictures and supposedly is running good too.
It is about 2hr drive from me, have to make some time to go and see it.

I think the main reason to use a magneto would be so that you can remove the battery and alternator and drop as much weight as possible... always good on a race bike. The magneto generates its own spark energy, so you don't need any other electronics or power at all.
I've read elsewhere that the magnet part of these ARD units have a limited life and demagnetize over time, which would be an issue for street use. But I don't have any personal experience so maybe someone else can comment on that.
