Dyna s on 78 KZ1000 3 wire hook up??

I have 3 tiny wires coming from the Dyna s. A red, black, and white. What do these go to? I bought this basket case a couple days ago and there's a brand new wiring harness from Kawasaki. There's wires everywhere

Ok, you have 2 coils. One sparks 1 and 4 plugs the other sparks 2 and 3 plugs. the dyna s has two wires that go to coils.

red is power.
the white and black go to coils

Know that the black button or the magnetic pickup has a slot cut in bottom.
the button has one magnetic pickup so it can be installed 180 out or incorrect.
this happened to me and bike backfired and wouldn't run.
if this happens take black button and turn 180 and reinstall.

Google Dyna. Email them. They'll send a schematic for any of thirty systems. Been there....

I just read on another thread about removing the IC Ignitor if you run a Dyna s. Does my 78 have an IC Ignitor? If it does, where is it? Sorry for all the questions guys but I got a basket case here and its my first older bike.

'78 had points, and no igniter.

Dyna-S is powered by red wire from switched battery positive (spliced into harness wire such as the red or red/yellow wire before the dual connector feeding the two coil wires, OR plugged into an unused accessory plug that provides switched battery positive)

Under the points cover, the wire from the left-hand 9 o'clock rear located Dyna-S module attaches to the ignition coil that fires the two outside spark plugs #1 and #4.

Under the points cover, the wire from the right-hand 3 o'clock forward located Dyna-S module attaches to the ignition coil that fires the two inside spark plugs #2 and #3.

Dyna provides downloadable instructions on their website. They also have great guys you can call for tech support just plan on a 20 minute hold time.

NOTE: Best to Solder the 12Vdc power versus their supplied splice....

I am doing the rest of electrical on my holland bike before start up ,it came with new Dyna and at the
pick up plate the two lower wire on mine is red?
Is this a problem or will it be the same 1-4 and 2-3 as this topic?

Regardless of coil mounting positions, left Dyna-S module wire always goes to whichever coil fires outside plugs 1/4, and right Dyna-S module wire always goes to whichever coil fires inside plugs 2/3.

The above diagram is correct for Z1 and KZ900-1000.

KZ650 and some others have left coil to inside plugs 2/3 and right coil to outside plugs 1/4.

Regardless of coil mounting positions, left Dyna-S module wire always goes to whichever coil fires outside plugs 1/4, and right Dyna-S module wire always goes to whichever coil fires inside plugs 2/3.
