digital speedometer upgrade

dont know if this has been covered as im having difficulty finding info on this topic maybe not searching correctly but heres what im planning, im thinking of buying a digital speedometer from another bike such as a zx6, zx10, or any other crotch rocket with a digital speedo and slap it on my kz550, if i wire it up to get power to it wich shouldnt be too hard with a little electrical know how, and if i get a magnetic sensor for the speed, i beleive it should work. idk i think it beats buying a 300 dollar speedo or those cheap ebay koso replicas that run the risk of not working. if you can help me out here id really appreciate it alot. also gonna do it to two other older bikes aswell if my idea works.

Get a wiring harness to match the dash, makes it a lot easier. ZX10R dash weighs ounces, really light.
A pickup triggering off a disk brake bolt might work to drive the speedo.
Find a wiring diagram online to match the speedo you get.

Yea was goin for an 02 gsxr speedo but might keep it kawasaki instead i found good info on some swaps done to other bikes ill tackle it soon

I converted my '89 Gsxr750 from mechanical speedo/electronic tach to an all electric cluster from an '02 Gsxr600. It took some wiring know-how but wasn't too bad.
