When running a gps speedo, do you need to subscribe to a service to get gps signal? or does a communication device come with spedo?

The Global Positioning System is operated by the US Government, so you shouldn't need a subscription for that. If the speedo has other features (map updates?) , you might need a subscription for those,

What speedo GPS units are out there? That would be cool to not have to calibrate a speedo or use a magnetic pickup for aftermarket forks.

I'm running an Autometer programmable speedometer with the Intellitronix gps sending unit. I'm sure it's accurate on level ground and at steady speeds but it picks up speed slower than the bike accelerates and gets goofy in hilly areas. You might ride a mile or 2 before it decides it want's to do anything at all. Can't say I'm a 100% happy but I do have more than nothing.
