I should have thought of that. You are right on.loudhvx wrote: Unplug the connectors from the reg/rec, and unplug the headlight.You should be able to ride over 100 miles on a fresh battery that way.

I did not set out to buy a project bike,
but I got one anyway.

I bought a new battery on Saturday and tried it in the bike today. I fired up and I measured a charging system voltage of 14.5 VDC. So the regulator was fine. Just needed a battery.
Now after having 22 volts or so on it last week it did blow a couple light bulbs out. The seller had a rear/brake bulb on hand. I am going to pick up a new headlight this week. Next Sat I should pick up my first motorcycle. I'm kinda excited.
